...it's a little piece of paradise in Central Bohemia, as a poet might say. On the edge of the Voděradské bučiny (Voděrady beech forest), surrounded by ponds and deep forests. Whether you're walking, hopping on a bike, or cross country skiing in winter, it feels like you're in the mountains.
Why is Louňovice amazing?
✅ A lively community – there's always something going on! Our active neighbors organize events for kids and adults – from Witch's Night, Easter and Halloween gatherings at the stone open-air museum, summer masked raft cruise, masquerades, to outdoor theater performances and winter hall events. You'll read all about it in the local newsletter.
✅ A new school – In September 2025, we'll open a brand-new primary school. It will be beautiful and modern, but most importantly, a fantastic place for kids to grow and for community events to happen.
✅ Sports opportunities – We have the Louňovice Slavia football team and the Moravan Louňovice orientation running club. Plus, various tournaments, like ping-pong competitions. And here's a fun one – for a few years now, they've been holding Flyball competitions in the summer.
✅ Neighborhood life – People in Louňovice know each other and meet up not just in their gardens, at playgrounds, or on trips, but also at kids' parties or even for a friendly game of poker. It's great to have a group of friends nearby to hang out with.
✅ Pubs – There are two pubs open year-round, and in summer, even four. They serve Radegast 10, Popovice 11, and Pilsner 12. And the food's great too.
Practical Side
🚍 Great transport – Louňovice is on the main road between Prague and Kutná Hora. You can easily get to Říčany, Úvaly, or Kostelec nad Černými lesy by bus or car. And Prague is just a little farther. The location's advantage? Three bus lines run here, so the connections are more frequent (every 20 minutes during rush hour) than in some villages closer to Prague, where there's usually only one bus line.
🛑 No through traffic – The road goes through the valley and only locals turn off towards the residential areas. You can safely let your kids bike around or walk to the playground or shop.
🏫 New school – As mentioned, it's going to be an amazing project. But the most important thing is that, according to the plans and the vision of the headmaster, it's going to be a great place for children's development. I believe it won't be an outdated school from the days of Maria Theresa, nor an extreme alternative. It looks like a modern and sensible approach to education and child development.
Shops – The village has a classic village shop with all the basics you need. At the edge of the village, there's a Lidl, which is easily reachable on foot or a 2-minute drive. Additional shops, including a pharmacy and home goods stores, are in nearby Mukařov. And a weekend walk to the cake shop in Srbín is a lovely treat 😊.
